Dirkel Humans? Empty Dirkel Humans?

I know that many people seriously won't like this.
But there is this big chance I am gonna do this...

Dirkel Humans? 86758617 Dirkel Humans? 37266024

So, my plan.
The regular Dirkels (see picture above) were simple blobs, and had lots of restrictions. Restrictions as that they didn't have any legs, and that the arms were seperated from the body, next to that, the head was actually a 'part of the body'. With these restrictions it was very hard to design different (and cooler) armour types, and extremely hard to imagine and design cool monsters.
Most monsters were just different colours, or different textures of an existing model.
When I make the Dirkels look like humans, this is solved, since then I can just make dragons with legs and arms, I can make extremely cool and scary looking swamp monsters, and even the skeletons would look way cooler.
Next to that, the armours would be better visible, and your character can look way more bad-ass.

Dirkel Humans? 46731689

Another problem with the original Dirkel design was the animations, they barely had any. Why? Because they didn't have arms nor legs. With the 'human' idea, they will have jumping, running, breathing and more improved fighting animations. (maybe even crawling and climbing)

Dirkel Humans? 51899790

Try to visualize the opportunities we have with the new designs.
And please tell me what you think.

Undecided. I hear what you are saying, but I'm not sure I LIKE the idea. You couldn't call it "Dirkels" anymore, for sure...do they HAVE to be humans?

Why couldn't Dirkels creatures just be made up of all shapes, instead of circles and a rectangle?

Humans would personally turn me off the game. Just another medieval fantasy RPG. Nothing special, really.

Just my opinion. You could create a less-human desig.......idea.

How about "blobs." These AREN'T fixed humans.

http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=614&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=legend+of+zelda+chuchu&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Or a better example. You know 9_6 on the GMC? Something like his user pic. This would allow freedom in the design of the blobs, and allow cool creations, while retaining the previous charm.

I'm thinking of something shorter and cuter than 9_6's avatar though.

I know the name 9_6, but it seems like I can't find it on the gmc.
Any link?

And... Aye, I also got problems of them being humans.
Next to a nice story, there ain't anything different from Dirkels, and an regular medieval RPG.

So! I must create it to some sort of different creature.
Maybe mix up the original Dirkel, with the new Dirkel.

Please help me with this Sad

Nothing to set apart from every other mediaeval platformer...
You don't have to be good just because of the characters being ungainly blobs. Make them humans, and find more ways to be unique, in quests and in features/

"I agree with Zed."
Oh well. Kyon, I'm sorry, but it's how I feel Razz It's just not THAT different...it'd be like trying to measure up against Runescape or some other standard MMORPG, without the MMO (MY opinion, remember...)

I think the website JUST upgraded flash player...so try that...but I posted a pic link too... can you picture that, except MAYBE A LITTLE CUTER..and a lot less top-heavy, wearing some sort of armor?

Still no legs, so with that i am still stuck with grigators and other blobs.
Really no big difference.

Can't you find anything with actual legs??
Something that looks like a human a lot?

This looks like a person and has legs!
Oh wait, it's a person. Why don't we do that in Dirkels, instead of ungainly blobs?

Dirkels needs something unique though.
And if you can tell me this, then I will make them humans.
(like I already planned lol)

Things to make Dirkels unique:

Awesome battle system
Realistic injuries (He hit my sword arm, now my attacks are less powerful, he hit my head and now I can't see as well, he hit my torso, I lost a lot of health etc)
Realistic fighting (Knocked back by hits based on enemy's strength, strikes to the head are often fatal)
AI that has realistic injuries (I hit his head, he can't find me as easily etc)
Realistic jumping (Not very high, but quite long)
Awesome realistic water effects (waterfalls ftw)
Tester feedback during progress
All weapons and armours from the SAME HISTORICAL PERIOD (this really would make it unique)
Plot that MAKES SENSE, has a lot of "player decisions" and doesn't always have a happy ending and is easier to get a bad ending (if you decide to use humans, I'll write some plots Very Happy)
Have me help you with ideas and plot.

Please listen!
Zed

Your realistic-damaging attacks are way too much to script, and useless.
But I do like the other ideas.

Ofcourse the plot will chance, but not much, since the previous plot was very nice.
I just shorten the balderits, and probably remove the swamp.
Moar alyuen-tadari story, now stupid swamp fillers.

lol

Soon I will make some cool progress on the new Dirkels.
I keep you up.

EDIT: did you like the human design of this blog btw?

I insist that if Dirkels switches to humans, that they at least have proper fingers.

hahaha lol.
This hunter is zoomed in, and will be used in my WWF game.
Though, I can make cool suits like that one in the upcoming Dirkels...
The character will be a bit smaller though..

Do not make Diuky htis muscular, he doesn't start off as a warrior, but as a rich man's son. This build is okay for Balderits and that, though. I also think that they should be a little more realistic, more detail in the costumes and things like that. Otherwise you should stay with blobs.

AND DO NOT DO BLACK OUTLINES!

Actually, he does start as a warrior... And not as a rich man's son, but as the son of an famous hero.
But yeah, this one is way too muscular, thanks for the tip, will change.

He's still pretty muscular, but oh well. Also, Diuky should not be dressed like this.

Dress styles (suggestions):

Diuky at start: Off white shirt, belt. Brown boots and dark trousers. Like this:
http://www.moonslightmagic.com/images/mens_shirt-medieval-lg.jpg
Medium brown hair.

Aldezar: purple cloak, greying blonde hair.
cloak like: http://www.cloakedanddaggered.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/midnight-velvet-cloak.jpg
But for a man.

Alyuen: pale blue jerkin over a red-ish shirt. Jet black hair.

Unless you have your own ideas, I'll do some more plans?

You really need to do some plans for the time and place for it to be set in. Later than 1500 allows for muskets, earlier means fewer swords. I should suggest around 1450 for the best idea.
The place (Elyador of course) should be based on a real area. I should wuggest western Europe, with various areas representing Germany, France and Britain.

Yes, of course...
This was just a test-suit.
Nothing to any character related.

Also, Diuky, hair or bald?
And what kind of hair?

Hair for most characters.
Diuky should have sub shoulder length mid brown hair.

More material beneath the belt. Halfway to the knee, it should be. And he should have sleeves.
Oh, and seeing as he's the son of a hero, they'd be rich. So neat hair!

Anyway, I started animating a base-human.
When I made an awesome walking animation, I've put it in my platform-engine game.
The walking looked awesome, though, the character is maybe too big??
Tell me what ya think
Dirkel Humans? Scr1

I am not really looking for resizing btw, I guess its good, the screen just has to be bigger + the buildings and stuff.
Lol, it's gonna be a bigger-screen game, which is nice actually, you can enjoy and see the battles more clear etc.
